I work as a designer and researcher. My background runs across fashion design, curatorial studies, and design engineering, and I've worked as a product designer and ethnographic consultant for global brands and early-stage startups. Ethnography taught me to find out how people actually behave rather than assume it. Design taught me what to do with that once you know. I grew up in Beijing and left at fourteen, then studied and worked across the US, France, and the UK. I now split my time between the UK and China. Living inside several cultures rather than visiting them is what makes the cross-cultural side of my work possible. Alongside client work, I make video essays on Chinese art and design history, reading design and culture psychologically so more of this material becomes legible to people who weren't raised inside it.
