Frequently asked questions
1. How do I book a session with you?
Simply visit my portal at topmate.io/talk2mentor, choose the service that fits your need (career coaching, interview prep, or skills gap assessment), pick an available slot, and complete the booking along with the lead form. You'll receive a confirmation with the calendar invite and Zoom link right after booking.
Time zone: I'm not sure what time zone the slots are shown in — how do I avoid booking the wrong time?
Topmate displays available slots based on your device/browser's local time zone by default, but it's always worth double-checking before you confirm. Look for the time zone label on the booking page, and if you're traveling or your device is set to a different region, manually select your current time zone so the slot lines up correctly. When in doubt, note the time in both your zone and mine (Eastern Time, Ontario, Canada) to avoid confusion.
3. What happens if I miss my scheduled call (a no-show)?
If you don't join within the first 05–10 minutes of the scheduled time and haven't messaged me in advance, the session will be marked as a no-show. Depending on the service tier, no-shows may not be eligible for a free reschedule, so please cancel or reschedule at least a few hours ahead if you know you can't make it.
4. I'm running a few minutes late — will I still get my full session?
Life happens, and a short delay is fine — just try to join as close to the start time as possible. However, sessions typically end at the originally scheduled time to respect the next booking on my calendar, so arriving late usually means less time together rather than an extended session. If you expect to be more than 10 minutes late, please message me so we can decide whether to shift or reschedule.
5. Do I need to keep my camera on during the Zoom call?
I'd encourage it — video-on calls tend to be more engaged, personal, and productive, especially for interview prep and career coaching where reading body language matters. That said, I understand there may be times you prefer audio-only, and that's okay too; just let me know at the start of the call.
6. Why do I need to fill out a lead form and give consent before booking?
The lead form helps me understand your background, goals, and current challenges so I can tailor the session to you rather than starting from scratch. The consent checkbox confirms you're comfortable with me using the information you share (and, where applicable, being contacted about relevant services) — I don't share your details with third parties, and you can ask questions about how your info is used any time.
7. How should I prepare before the call to get the most value?
Come with a specific goal or question in mind — whether it's resume feedback, interview practice, or a roadmap for breaking into CDM. If relevant, have your resume, LinkedIn profile, or specific job postings on hand, and jot down 2-3 questions you want answered. Sessions move faster and go deeper when there's a clear focus.
8. What can I expect after the session ends?
Depending on the service, you may receive a short written summary, action items, or resources discussed during the call. If you found the session valuable, feedback and reviews on Topmate are always appreciated — they help other CDM professionals find the right kind of support too.
