Hi, I’m Sachin Dogra. I spent nearly a decade sailing in the Merchant Navy, progressing through multiple ranks and gaining experience across different vessel operations and maritime environments. Like many seafarers, I eventually reached a point where I began exploring opportunities ashore. That journey came with a lot of questions understanding the shore job market, identifying transferable skills, navigating education options, and figuring out which industries actually value maritime experience. Today, I work in the maritime technology sector in Norway, supporting shipping companies in adopting digital solutions and improving operational processes. Alongside this, I am also pursuing an Executive MBA, focusing on business strategy and leadership. Through my own transition from sea to shore, I realized that many mariners struggle with the same challenges: • Lack of clarity on realistic shore career options • Difficulty translating sailing experience into shore roles • Limited guidance on global maritime opportunities • Uncertainty around education, networking, and career positioning This is why I started offering structured one-on-one guidance sessions to help Merchant Navy professionals think more strategically about their transition and avoid common mistakes. In our session, I focus on practical, honest advice based on real experience rather than generic career coaching.
