I am Lynda, a Georgia State University Alumna (Class of ’21). I majored in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry on a Pre-Med track. I graduated summa cum laude with General, Advanced and Honors Thesis distinctions. I am an aspiring surgeon passionate about anatomy, babies’ health and inclusivity in the healthcare field. During my time at Georgia State University, I worked as a Research Assistant in a Biochemistry Lab, through the University Assistantship Program/Research (UAP). I was heavily involved within the Honors College: I joined the Honors College Ambassadors, the Georgia State University Research Conference Planning Committee (GSURC), the Lead with Honors Cohort and the WomenLead Program. Outside of the Honors College I was involved with the Chemistry Club, the Science Olympiad, the American Association of Medical Students (AMSA), the Minority Association of Pre-Health Minorities (MAPS), the Biology Research Club (iGEM) and STEMulate. I am a recipient of the Honors College Parents Club Award and the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Scholarship (LSAMP). I am a new CDC ORISE Fellow in the Division of HIV Prevention (DHP). I decided to do an ORISE Fellowship as a part of my gap years to learn more about the public health field while continuing to expand my medical, laboratory, clinical and chemistry knowledge. I am responsible for testing biological specimens for antiretroviral drugs using mass spectrometry methods and quantifying antiretroviral drugs in various biological matrices. So far during my time at the CDC I have joined several organizations namely, the Association of Professional Women (APW), the CDC Fellows Collective, The Organization of African Public Health Professionals (OAPHP) and the Young Professional Network (YPN), which all aim to solve complex world problems and empower employees through networking, communicating, and leading. When I am not working, I love to discover new brunch spots around Atlanta, and watching sports. I am passionate about photography, interested in the latest true crime story or celebrity scandal and curious to travel the world.
