Yashwanth is an Ultrasound Researcher and an Innovator in the space of Medical devices. He is currently a final year doctoral student in Mechanical engineering program at the University of Washington, working as a Graduate Research Assistant with the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound at Applied Physics Laboratory. Also the inventor of Polyacrylamide-alginate hybrid phantom that mimics tough tissue for histotripsy application and holds a utility and provisional patent for it. He also served as the student representative worldwide for ultrasonics at IEEE UFFC, and currently serves on the International Society of Therapeutic Ultrasound Student board and the Acoustical society of America Biomedical Acoustics subcommittee. In the past he has worked in the medical device industry on Thermal HIFU devices for cosmetic applications, after obtaining a master's degree at Arizona State University. He also successfully created a chest resuscitation device startup during his time at ASU after winning the EDSON student entrepreneurship challenge (Sential LLC) and raised seed money of upto $60k and was a finalist at AZ Scorpion Pit, Flinn Foundation, SparkTank, Global Social Venture competition, Colorado State University Collegiate Competition and the White Hat Conference. He is a hackathon enthusiast, with multiple hackathon wins, 1) IEEE UFFC-S and American Society of Echocardiography Hackathon on using ultrasound in continuous critical care monitoring 2) Hacks for Humanity, for the social good. He is available to talk on a variety of topics and enjoys mentorship. Topics he cares dearly about include getting a breakthrough in the medical device industry, academia to industry transition, industry to academia transition, studying abroad and getting involved in technical communities.
