SQL Server Restore and Recovery Overview

In this short guide, we have provided an overview of SQL Server Restore and Recovery process. We have talked about the complete database restore, the data file restore, and a page restore.

We discussed about various restoring scenarios including complete database restore, file restore, page restore and piecemeal restore. We discussed about steps to restore a database under file restore and database restore. We talked about the advantages of file or page restore.

We then covered the topic recovery and the transaction log and included all the 3 phases of recovery (analysis, redo and undo). We then discussed upon various recovery models (Full, Bulk-Logged, Simple) and their supported restore operations. We talked about the restore scenarios under Simple Recovery Model and Bulk-Logged Recovery Model.
