LLD Mock Interview (Machine Coding Round)

This is a realistic Low-Level Design (LLD) / Machine Coding mock interview designed to simulate actual interview conditions and evaluate your ability to build scalable, clean systems under time constraints.

Format

1. 45 mins: Live coding + design discussion
2. 15 mins: Detailed feedback + Q&A

What to expect

1. Problems focused on building real-world systems within a limited scope
2. Emphasis on clean design, code quality, and clarity of thought
3. Slightly challenging difficulty to push your problem-solving ability

Concepts covered

1. Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
2. SOLID & DRY principles
3. Concurrency & multithreading
4. Asynchronous workflows
5. Appropriate use of data structures and algorithms
6. Unit tests

What’s expected from you

1. Clarify requirements (problem statements will be intentionally ambiguous)
2. Scope the solution realistically for a ~1 hour discussion
3. Write clean, near production-ready code
4. Ensure code is testable, modular, and maintainable
5. Be ready to share your screen during the session for live coding

Setup requirement

Please ensure your preferred IDE is set up in advance with a blank project initialized, so we can start coding immediately during the session.

Note on scheduling

On Topmate, I try to limit my calendar to one session per day, which is why the visible timing is set to 10 PM – 11 PM EDT.
