About me

An active young changemaker in the climate and sustainability domain, Urja works at the intersection of business and sustainability. She started her journey right from her time in the university, where she focused on empowering women in rural Haryana through extensive work with NGOs, helping them build resilient businesses by leveraging their talents. This journey paved the way for her pivotal role MASH Project Foundation, where she led a team of 40+ volunteers for the COVID Action Initiative, a digital platform connecting resource providers with on-ground volunteers. During her tenure, she positively influenced over 1000+ individuals and led partnerships with organisations such as UNDP, Niti Aayog, LinkedIn, UNV India, UNESCO, Ministry of Skills Development & Entrepreneurship and Government of India. Her leadership played a crucial part in the organization's achievement of the prestigious Goalkeepers Award by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2020. Subsequently, Urja has worked at Harvard Business Publishing, where she collaborated with Fortune 500 companies, offering expertise in management and leadership development. Her passion for ESG, Sustainability, and Climate took her to the Antler Founders Program in Singapore, where she became the youngest participant and collaborated with individuals from over 30 different countries on innovative ideas within this domain. Today, at AXA Climate, Urja occupies a vital position as one of the founding members of the APAC team. Her primary focus is guiding businesses through their sustainability transitions (from her time as a sustainability freelancer), a role that reflects her ongoing commitment to creating a positive impact through the intersection of business and sustainability. She continues to be an advocate for sustainability, conducting workshops and speaking engagements at multiple national and international forums, including but not limited to Shiv Nadar University, Women Climate Collective, MASH Project Foundation, IKEA Foundation and more. She believes in continuous upskilling and has completed various certification programs from leading institutes such as Harvard Business School, Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford, adelphi and IKEA Foundation.
