About me
Hi folks!
I am a software engineer with ~8 years of experience, ranging from service-based to product-based companies. I've had the opportunity to work in domains like fintech and e-commerce.
My primary focus is on backend development, as I am fascinated by the world of distributed systems. I actively work with Java and Python, but also engage with JavaScript when necessary. For web frameworks, I prefer Spring for production-grade services and Flask for quick prototyping/mocking. I have experience with various relational databases like MySQL, Postgres, and Oracle, as well as non-relational DBs like MongoDB and Cassandra.
While I've dabbled in UI frameworks like ReactJS and Angular, they're not my forte. I use them more for prototyping and proof of concepts than for building production-grade apps.
I had a real passion for building Android apps during my college years at IIT-BHU (Batch of '17), though I eventually gravitated towards backend development—a decision I don't regret. I witnessed the evolution of Android from versions 4 to 6.
Currently, I work as an SDE 3 at an e-commerce SaaS company, collaborating remotely with a global team spread across three continents. I own the full SDLC lifecycle from gathering and understanding product requirements, designing, project planning and development to manual and automated testing, deployment and maintenance.
I can offer guidance on topics such as:
- Transitioning from entry-level to mid/senior-level engineering roles.
- The mindset required for success in different company environments, including startups.
- Practices to avoid in a service-based company.
- Effective strategies for remote work.
- Demystifying ownership in the workplace.
- Accelerating your learning curve.
- Prioritizing projects for career advancement.
In short, software engineering is more than just technology; it encompasses research, brainstorming, negotiation, planning, and execution. Mastering soft skills can significantly accelerate your career. Let me guide you through navigating your career path while I continue to steer my own. ;)
