I call myself an accidental entrepreneur. I thrive on delving into research to find solutions that help people around me, whether it's recommending the hottest skincare trends or meticulously planning detailed travel itineraries (having explored solo across 9 countries and counting!). Armed with excellent research skills, I'm always up for tackling almost any challenge that comes my way. Of course, I carry this superpower with me as a start-up lawyer for my clients as well. My motivation to get into law was to help people and make this world a better place! The plan was to get a master’s in Human Rights Law because logically that’s the only way I thought I could help people. While that sounded very flowery, I quickly realized it wouldn’t pay my bills. With COVID-19 knocking at the door and the job market frozen for new hires, I gave freelancing a go and it clicked. I took up the first retainer I could find and gradually fell in love with contracts and policies because I realized though I was not working at an international organization to influence policies and be a part of making the law, I was still making a difference in people’s lives by helping them protect their business. This felt like a superhero moment! No looking back from there. In the last few years, I have worked with clients across the globe, mainly US, EU, UK, and Dubai. I am a top-rated plus on Upwork (Top 3% on the world’s largest freelance marketplace). Apart from this, I am known for two things among my clientele; 1) Simplifying the most complicated legal jargon and making it easy to understand even for a 5-year-old. 2) Good vibes and being a pleasure to work with. My superpower includes empathy and understanding that I work with real people and not machines have gone a long way. I take my time to understand the expectations and limitations of my clients and provide solutions accordingly. A lesson that I learned this year is to extend this empathy to myself as well after being severely burnt out. I learned it's okay to not try to turn every hobby into a side hustle. I have also allowed myself to not be perfect at everything, especially if it's a hobby! I continue to be a not-so-good-candle-maker. On most days, I live the life of a cozy entrepreneur with my cat, who is my favorite co-worker while I write this from my home office.
