Eleven days. Four cities. Everything we'd tell a friend before they booked.
We spent ten nights across Venice, Florence, the Amalfi Coast and Rome, and wrote down what actually happened: which trains we took, what we paid, where we got it wrong, and what we'd do differently. This is that trip, turned into a guide you can follow.
Not a listicle of "top 10 things to do." A working itinerary with the logistics attached.
What's inside (63 pages)
🗓️ A day-by-day route, Days 1 to 11. Venice, Florence with a Tuscany wine day, three days on the Amalfi Coast, four in Rome. Written in the order we did it, so you can lift it whole or swap pieces out.
🛏️ Where to stay in every city. The exact Airbnbs and hotels we booked, plus budget, mid-range and luxury picks in each city, price-banded per night for two and filtered to genuinely well-reviewed places.
🚆 Booking all the transport. Trenitalia vs Italo, which train type to book and which class actually matters, plus how to get around inside each city: vaporetto, buses, ferries, the metro, and whether the Roma Pass is worth it. We do the maths.
🍝 Where to eat. Restaurant tables sorted into what's worth it, what's fine, and what to skip, with the two places that disappointed us named.
📍 "If We Had More Time" for each city. The day trips and sights we had bookmarked and didn't reach, with just the hard rules you'd need.
🎫 Official booking links for every major sight, so you're not buying through a reseller at a markup.
📱 The practical back matter. Apps to download, phrases that got used, how to read an Italian menu without overpaying, and emergency numbers.
Every price verified for 2026, not copied from a 2019 blog post: entry fees, transport fares, ticket rules and the newer charges most guides haven't caught up with yet.
