Shefali is an accomplished artist, multidisciplinary designer, educator, and entrepreneur who wears many hats in the creative realm. As the founder of BASE 501, a boutique cloud studio, she has collaborated with global brands such as Starbucks, KFC, Sony, Pepsi, Disney, and Red Bull to name a few. With over 18 years of experience, Shefali has demonstrated strong creative and entrepreneurial skills, earning multiple awards and recognition for her innovative work in visual communication, illustration, digital media, branding, and interactive design. Her curiosity and dedication to continuous learning keep her on the cutting edge of design and technology. As a Fabricademy alumna, Shefali has honed skills in computational design, digital fabrication, parametric modeling, and material innovation merging traditional craftsmanship with emerging technologies. With the Leadership with AI program done via ISB , she has sharpened her expertise in AI strategy, ethics, and creative applications of artificial intelligence in education and design. She is proficient in a variety of AI tools, skilled at prompt engineering, and passionate about exploring how AI augments creative identity, authorship, and design futures. Beyond practice, Shefali has been a design educator for over 13 years at leading institutions including ISDI (Atlas), NAS Academy, NMIMS School of Design, IIDE, Raffles, and SOAL. Currently, she is a Professor of Practice at Somaiya School of Design, where she teaches design software, illustration, graphic and communication design, and a lot more, while also mentoring students in communication, strategy, and entrepreneurial skills; preparing them to be industry-ready, adaptable, and future-facing designers.
