About me

I'm Tanmay Laud, an Applied Scientist at Hippocratic AI, where I focus on developing speech-enabled Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance healthcare delivery. My expertise lies in Multimodal AI, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning, with a particular interest in creating AI solutions that address real-world challenges.​ In 2024, I co-authored "RED QUEEN: Safeguarding Large Language Models against Concealed Multi-Turn Jailbreaking," a paper that proposes a novel framework to protect LLMs from sophisticated multi-turn jailbreaking attacks. This work was published on arXiv and contributes to the ongoing efforts in AI safety and robustness. ​ Earlier in 2024, I developed "Subtext," a chat interface that dynamically adds AI-generated text animations and emojis to enhance communication. Designed with accessibility in mind, Subtext aims to assist individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in interpreting textual emotions and sarcasm. This project won the Chat Interface category at the AGI House Hackathon. ​ In January 2024, I participated in two hackathons where I developed "suRAGeon," an AI-assisted medical surgery tool, and "X-Ray Insight," a multimodal Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline for question answering on X-ray images. Both projects were recognized for their innovative approaches to integrating AI in healthcare. ​ Previously, I contributed to the development of "RecWizard," a library for building conversational recommender systems, which was accepted into the AAAI 2024 Demo Track. This tool simplifies the deployment and experimentation of conversational recommendation models. ​ My journey in AI began at Deutsche Bank, where I worked on large-scale systems and received accolades like the Deutsche Bank Recognition Award and the DB All Rounder Award. I also secured 1st place in India and 6th globally in the Dabble Machine Learning Competition. ​ I hold a Master's degree in Computer Science from UC San Diego, where I led the ClimaBench project, focusing on NLP applications for climate change. My work has been recognized at platforms like EMNLP 2022 and the SoCal NLP Symposium. ​ I'm passionate about leveraging AI to solve pressing societal issues and am always eager to collaborate on projects that make a meaningful impact.
