What they're navigating is the transformation that comes with architecture: communicating across organizations, influencing teams and decisions without direct authority, and adapting how they think and talk about their work to match the level they're operating at. Those shifts don't happen automatically with a title change, they take deliberate practice. I work best with senior engineers stepping into architecture roles, and junior engineers aiming for senior or staff. I don't come in with a fixed agenda. Sometimes you need a framework.
