I joined the National Defence Academy as a teenager, was commissioned into the Indian Air Force, and served for over eleven years as a fighter pilot — close to 750 hours across the Pilatus, Kiran, Hawk and the MiG-21. I know what the selection system is really looking for, because I had to show it myself — and then I lived the officer's life it leads to, training and leading younger pilots along the way.
