I had a very insightful and helpful Bioinformatics Career & Coding Roadmap session with Smriti Arora. The session addressed several of my queries related to bioinformatics analysis, understanding how to start and successfully execute an NGS project, and the practical aspects involved in handling genomic datasets. One of the most useful discussions was around selecting the right laptop configuration and understanding dataset limitations to avoid system crashes and workflow bottlenecks. Smriti also provided valuable guidance on choosing suitable datasets and planning projects efficiently based on available computational resources. In addition, we discussed global job opportunities that align with my background and expertise in genetics and genomics research. The session provided clarity on career direction, industry expectations, and the skills required to transition effectively into bioinformatics and NGS-based roles. Overall, the session was highly informative, practical, and encouraging for anyone planning to build a career in bioinformatics and genomic data analysis.

About me

Hola, I’m Smriti — a bioinformatician deeply interested in human biology, genomics, and the stories hidden inside biological data. I know how confusing the transition from wet lab to dry lab can feel because I’ve experienced that uncertainty myself. Through these sessions, I genuinely want to help students and researchers navigate bioinformatics more practically — from R/Python and NGS workflows to projects, career direction, and industry expectations. At the same time, language learning is something very personal to me. Spanish became much more than just a language; it became a space of joy, curiosity, and growth. So apart from bioinformatics mentoring, I also love helping beginners start their Spanish journey in a simple, interactive, and motivating way.
