About me
Hi, I’m Pavni Singh, and I’m from a small town in Uttar Pradesh, India.
My journey so far has been a little unconventional. I didn’t really start with a fixed career plan. I started with something I genuinely enjoyed creating content and understanding why people connect with certain ideas.
That eventually led me to start my own social media agency.
At first, it was a very small thing. I started taking on clients and helping them with their online presence. Over time, I worked with around 30 clients. My work was mainly around content writing LinkedIn posts, Instagram scripts and newsletters, researching topics for clients, understanding their audience, and turning that research into content they could actually use.
While doing this, I realised that I didn't just enjoy creating content. I was becoming really interested in the reason behind it why people engage with certain content, what influences their decisions, how brands build relationships with consumers, and what makes something successful.
That curiosity pushed me towards research.
I started working on marketing-related research projects and internships with institutions including UCL, Cambridge, IIM Calcutta, IIM Ranchi and SPJIMR. My responsibilities were very different from what I had been doing with my agency. I worked on literature reviews, participant outreach, interviewing participants, follow-ups, transcription and other parts of the research process.
For me, this was a completely different learning experience because I went from simply creating content to actually trying to understand the people behind that content.
At the same time, I wanted to see how these skills worked outside academia. So I explored government organisations as well.
I worked on three government-related internships, including work in the child-rights space. There, I worked on social media, created posts, managed the page, and wrote articles and newsletters. It taught me how communication changes when you're working on issues that have a much larger social purpose behind them.
Then I moved towards startups.
I worked with three startups where I was responsible for content research and social media content. This was probably one of the most practical parts of my journey because I could directly see whether the work I was doing was actually producing results.
One of the results I'm particularly proud of was growing three social media accounts from around 23 followers to 10,000 followers in a month.
And that's where my different experiences started connecting for me.
My agency taught me how to work with real clients.
My research internships taught me how to ask questions, collect information and understand people.
My government experience taught me how communication can be used for social impact.
And my startup experience taught me how to turn all of that into measurable growth.
So, although my journey might look a little scattered on paper — social media, research, government organisations, startups and client work — there is actually one common thread running through all of it.
I like understanding people and then figuring out how to communicate with them effectively.
That's what initially brought me into content, what took me into marketing research, and what I'm now trying to explore much more deeply.
I'm still at the beginning of my journey, but I think that's also what excites me. I've had the opportunity to try different environments, make mistakes, work with different kinds of people, and understand what kind of work genuinely interests me.
And now I want to take all of those experiences and build something much bigger from them.
