In 2001, I started as a Software Developer at Cognizant Healthcare. Early on, I was excited about solving real-time business problems with technology (such as health insurance claim payments, compliance data exchange, health benefits pricing, etc).
I was inclined towards visioning and implementing tech solutions that address business problems. Thus, I chose "domain-centric technology application and delivery management".
In 11 years, I became an "Associate Director". The journey included being part of seed/first teams in key initiatives, developing domain expertise, and managing large projects across multiple technologies with peak revenue of US$50 million. In Cognizant's internal blog, I wrote about uncommon management topics.
I took over the role of CTO in a Public Health organization (ICTPH) in 2014. ICTPH's primary care focus on rural areas strengthened my vision for tech. I made a strategy for IKP-TechPrima's (ICTPH's tech platform) adoption in the public health space. One of my most satisfying experiences with ICTPH has been my vivid conversations with doctors and nurses in rural areas.
In conjunction with Tamilnadu Govt.'s "Urban Polyclinics" project, IKP-TechPrima was used in (a) 70 primary health centers across three health districts, and (b) 97 urban primary health centres.
In order to enable the sale of native food products online, I established an online e-commerce platform "Oor Sandhai" (www.oorsandhai.com). It is designed to connect urban consumers with traditionally non-online rural and semi-urban merchants (who sell traditional Tamil food products).
I have been mentoring and/or coaching mid-level managers to help them advance to senior leadership positions.
