Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR therapy is different from other psychotherapeutic models as it does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue and can be completed in fewer sessions as compared to other psychotherapies. It is a WHO recognized treatment form for PTSD and other trauma related disorders.

In a session, you briefly bring a target memory to mind while following therapist-guided left-right stimulation — most commonly eye movements, sometimes taps or tones. Repeating this over sets helps the brain reprocess the memory so it feels like a past event rather than a present threat. Full treatment usually follows an eight-phase protocol covering history-taking, preparation, processing, and checking that the changes hold between sessions."},{"question":"What is the full form of EMDR therapy?","answer":"The full form of EMDR therapy is Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. Each part of the name describes the treatment: \"eye movement\" refers to the guided left-right eye movements (or similar bilateral stimulation) used in sessions, \"desensitisation\" refers to reducing the distress attached to painful memories, and \"reprocessing\" refers to helping the brain store those memories as ordinary past events that no longer trigger strong reactions."},{"question":"What is EMDR therapy used for?","answer":"EMDR is best known for treating PTSD and trauma from accidents, abuse, violence, loss, or frightening medical experiences. It is also used for anxiety and panic, phobias, grief, bullying or humiliation that still hurts years later, and old memories that fuel low self-worth. It tends to help people who logically know they are safe now but whose body still reacts as if the danger is current — through flashbacks, triggers, intense emotional surges, or avoidance."},{"question":"Can EMDR therapy be done at home?","answer":"Many people search for how to do EMDR therapy at home after reading about it online, but actual EMDR processing of traumatic memories should happen with a trained therapist. Reprocessing can surface intense emotions, and going through it alone increases the risk of feeling flooded or retraumatised. Simple calming techniques — slow bilateral tapping, grounding exercises, guided imagery — are safe to practise at home as support between sessions. If distance or cost is the barrier, online EMDR sessions with a certified therapist let you follow the real protocol from home with professional containment."},{"question":"How much does EMDR therapy cost in India?","answer":"There is no single standard rate. EMDR therapy cost in India depends on the therapist's certification and seniority, the city, session length, and whether you work online or in-clinic, so fees vary meaningfully between practitioners. Because EMDR requires specialised training, certified EMDR therapists generally charge more than general counsellors. Trauma work is usually planned as a series of sessions rather than a one-off, so before committing, ask any therapist you're considering about per-session fees, discounted packages, and roughly how many sessions your concern might need."},{"question":"How can I get EMDR therapy in India?","answer":"Start by shortlisting therapists who are specifically trained and certified in EMDR — it is fair to ask where they trained and how much supervised EMDR experience they have, since \"offers EMDR\" and \"certified in EMDR\" are not always the same thing. You can widen your search beyond your own city, as many EMDR therapists now work over video. Also check that the therapist is a qualified mental health professional (in India, clinical psychologists are registered with the RCI), and book an initial consultation to see whether you feel safe and understood before starting any trauma processing."},{"question":"How does trauma therapy work?","answer":"Trauma therapy works by helping the mind and nervous system reprocess experiences that got stored in \"threat mode\" instead of being filed away as the past. Most good trauma therapy moves in stages: first building safety, stability and coping skills; then gently processing the traumatic material through methods such as EMDR, trauma-focused CBT or exposure work; and finally integration — making sense of what happened and reconnecting with everyday life. It should not feel like being forced to relive everything in graphic detail; a skilled therapist paces the work so you stay within a window you can tolerate."},{"question":"What is trauma therapy like?","answer":"Early sessions usually focus on understanding your history, current symptoms and triggers, and teaching grounding techniques before any deep processing begins. As therapy progresses, sessions may involve talking through memories at your pace, EMDR-style processing, or working with situations you currently avoid. It can feel emotionally heavy at points, but you should never feel pushed beyond what you can handle — feeling challenged is normal, while feeling flooded session after session is a sign to discuss pacing. Most people notice change first outside the therapy room, such as reacting more calmly to triggers that used to derail them."},{"question":"What is trauma therapy called?","answer":"\"Trauma therapy\" is an umbrella term rather than one single technique. Under it sit approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), trauma-focused CBT, prolonged exposure therapy, somatic therapies, and psychodynamic or relational trauma work. Many therapists combine methods — for example, building insight through relational therapy while using EMDR for specific traumatic memories. When choosing someone, ask which trauma-specific approaches they are trained and supervised in, not just whether they describe themselves as a trauma therapist."},{"question":"Which type of therapy for PTSD is most effective?","answer":"The strongest evidence for PTSD sits with trauma-focused treatments, and EMDR and trauma-focused CBT are the two most widely recommended, with exposure-based therapies also well supported. Medication can ease symptoms, but these therapies work at the root — processing the traumatic memories themselves — which is why they are typically placed first. In practice, \"most effective\" also depends on the person: the nature of the trauma, whether dissociation is present, and how safe you feel with your therapist, since the quality of the therapeutic relationship strongly predicts outcomes."},{"question":"Is online trauma therapy effective?","answer":"For many people, yes — trauma therapy delivered over secure video can be as effective as in-person work, including structured approaches like EMDR. Online sessions make sense if you live somewhere with few trauma specialists, if you have moved abroad and want a therapist who understands your cultural background, or if the logistics of travelling to a clinic are what's stopping you from starting. The essentials remain the same: a private space where you won't be interrupted, a stable internet connection, and a therapist experienced in conducting trauma work remotely."},{"question":"What does a clinical psychologist do?","answer":"A clinical psychologist is trained to assess, diagnose and treat mental health difficulties — depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, addictions, and personality-related concerns among others — using psychotherapy and psychological testing rather than medication. In India, the title is regulated: a genuine clinical psychologist holds registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) after completing recognised clinical training. The common confusion is with psychiatrists, who are medical doctors and can prescribe medication; clinical psychologists specialise in therapy, assessment and formulation. Depending on the condition, some people benefit from working with both."},{"question":"Clinical psychologist vs psychologist: what's the difference?","answer":"\"Psychologist\" is the broad term for anyone trained in psychology — counsellors, organisational psychologists, academics and researchers all fall under it. The clinical psychologist vs psychologist distinction comes down to specialisation: a clinical psychologist has dedicated training in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental disorders, including supervised clinical practice. In India, clinical psychologists must additionally be RCI registered. So while every clinical psychologist is a psychologist, not every psychologist is qualified or licensed to treat clinical conditions — an important check before starting therapy for something serious."},{"question":"How to become a clinical psychologist in India?","answer":"The standard route is a bachelor's degree (usually in psychology), followed by a master's in psychology or an applied field, and then an RCI-recognised professional qualification in clinical psychology, such as the M.Phil in Clinical Psychology or the newer Psy.D routes. Registration with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) is what legally allows you to practise as a clinical psychologist in India, so confirm that any programme you consider leads to eligibility for it. Alongside marks, supervised hands-on experience in hospitals or clinics — assessments, casework, therapy under supervision — is what makes candidates stand out for jobs and further training."},{"question":"How to become a clinical psychologist in the UK?","answer":"To use the title in the UK, you must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a practitioner psychologist. The typical path is a psychology degree (or a conversion course giving Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society), followed by clinical experience such as assistant psychologist or support roles, and then a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy), which is usually NHS-funded. For psychologists trained abroad, including in India, the HCPC assesses applications directly against UK standards of education and supervised practice — the requirements around equivalency are strict, so getting proper guidance early in the process can save years of missteps."}]}}]] 21:null 2d:T440,https://topmate.io/cdn-cgi/image/width=1600,fit=contain,quality=90/https://res.cloudinary.com/topmate/image/upload/s--oZfeHKJQ--/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_500,l_text:Arial_130_bold:EMDR%20Therapy%20Pack%20for%20International%20Clients,w_1300,x_350,y_380/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55:Checkout%20my%20offerings%20and%20book%20a%20slot%20at,w_1500,x_350,y_920/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_1500,l_text:Arial_55:-%3E%20topmate.io%252F,w_1000,x_350,y_1000/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_1500,l_text:Arial_55_bold:shubhika_singh_chundawat1,w_1000,x_682,y_1000/c_fit,g_north_west,h_50,l_services_sharable:archive_munutl,o_100,w_50,x_350,y_215/c_fit,g_north_west,h_50,l_services_sharable:hash_mlchi8,o_100,w_50,x_800,y_215/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55_bold:Package,w_850,x_425,y_220/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55_bold:1%20sessions,w_850,x_880,y_220/c_fit,g_north_west,h_400,l_uploadtopmate:profilepics:shubhika_singh_chundawat1,o_100,w_400,x_1800,y_220/v1/services_sharable/share_base_vv5vv8.jpg?ogv=22e:T440,https://topmate.io/cdn-cgi/image/width=1600,fit=contain,quality=90/https://res.cloudinary.com/topmate/image/upload/s--oZfeHKJQ--/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_500,l_text:Arial_130_bold:EMDR%20Therapy%20Pack%20for%20International%20Clients,w_1300,x_350,y_380/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55:Checkout%20my%20offerings%20and%20book%20a%20slot%20at,w_1500,x_350,y_920/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_1500,l_text:Arial_55:-%3E%20topmate.io%252F,w_1000,x_350,y_1000/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_1500,l_text:Arial_55_bold:shubhika_singh_chundawat1,w_1000,x_682,y_1000/c_fit,g_north_west,h_50,l_services_sharable:archive_munutl,o_100,w_50,x_350,y_215/c_fit,g_north_west,h_50,l_services_sharable:hash_mlchi8,o_100,w_50,x_800,y_215/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55_bold:Package,w_850,x_425,y_220/c_fit,co_rgb:000000,g_north_west,h_100,l_text:Arial_55_bold:1%20sessions,w_850,x_880,y_220/c_fit,g_north_west,h_400,l_uploadtopmate:profilepics:shubhika_singh_chundawat1,o_100,w_400,x_1800,y_220/v1/services_sharable/share_base_vv5vv8.jpg?ogv=225:[["$","title","0",{"children":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat"}],["$","meta","1",{"name":"description","content":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat · Package · ₹45,000 · Topmate"}],["$","link","2",{"rel":"manifest","href":"/manifest.json","crossOrigin":"$undefined"}],["$","meta","3",{"name":"robots","content":"index, follow"}],["$","link","4",{"rel":"canonical","href":"https://topmate.io/shubhika_singh_chundawat1/863715"}],["$","meta","5",{"name":"yandex-verification","content":"0c572762b08c1459"}],["$","meta","6",{"name":"facebook-domain-verification","content":"xewq3sfwoskylhfigrhakv2hy7zemf"}],["$","meta","7",{"property":"og:title","content":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat"}],["$","meta","8",{"property":"og:description","content":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat · Package · ₹45,000 · Topmate"}],["$","meta","9",{"property":"og:url","content":"https://topmate.io/shubhika_singh_chundawat1/863715"}],["$","meta","10",{"property":"og:image","content":"$2d"}],["$","meta","11",{"property":"og:type","content":"website"}],["$","meta","12",{"name":"twitter:card","content":"summary_large_image"}],["$","meta","13",{"name":"twitter:title","content":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat"}],["$","meta","14",{"name":"twitter:description","content":"EMDR Therapy Pack for International Clients with Shubhika Singh Chundawat · Package · ₹45,000 · Topmate"}],["$","meta","15",{"name":"twitter:image","content":"$2e"}],"$L2f","$L30","$L31","$L32"]
