Human-Computer Interaction and Health Informatics Researcher. Passionate about working at the intersection of disciplines. I answer research questions that span Human-Computer Interaction, Information Visualization, Chronic Disease Management, and Sensemaking. I aspire to make data-driven care of chronic conditions a reality by creating novel approaches and tools for: • helping people and systems leverage patient data. • addressing the burden of making decision with multidimensional patient data. • helping people understand systems that leverage data. I study user engagement with health data. I design and evaluate novel data interfaces, particularly for lay users (patients, caregivers). I use a combination of methods that include interviews, observations, focus groups, surveys, visualization-based think-aloud sessions, task-driven visualization review, and user-centered design and evaluation. I am motivated by envisioning futuristic tools and approaches for improving human engagement with data and data-powered systems.
