  • I had a really warm and helpful conversation with Shambavi. She was kind, supportive, and very open about her own journey of coming to the UK as a dependent and navigating the job search process. What stood out to me was how practical her guidance was. She shared job search and networking tips that I had not been applying properly before, especially around reaching out to people on LinkedIn and presenting myself better in interviews. She also helped me understand that interviews should feel more like a conversation, not just a place where I give direct answers to questions. That advice really helped me think about how I can show more confidence and communicate my experience better. I truly appreciate the time she gave me. It means a lot when someone who has gone through a similar journey takes the time to support and guide other women facing the same challenges. Her encouragement and practical advice gave me more clarity and confidence in my own job search.

About me

Hi, I'm Shambhavi. I moved to the UK after marriage on a dependent visa and eventually landed a full-time role in London without a UK degree, UK work experience or a professional network. Not needing sponsorship is often seen as a huge advantage, and in many ways it is. But it comes with its own challenges. You don't have a UK degree that employers recognise. You don't have local internships or placements on your CV. You don't have former colleagues, university friends or managers in the country who can refer you or vouch for your work. I spent over a year navigating those challenges myself, largely through networking, LinkedIn outreach and asking for help. I'm not a recruiter or career coach. I'm simply sharing what worked for me and what I wish someone had told me sooner. If you're in a similar position, whether you're struggling to get started, unsure how to network, trying to build confidence again, or simply need someone who's been there to talk things through with, I'd love to help where I can.
