About me

Serenity Wellness was founded in 2023. I am a qualified counseling psychologist with certifications in Trauma and Grief Counseling, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis with Gestalt Work, and an integration of CBT, DBT, and SFBT. I have interned at a hospital for 3 months, and a clinic for 6 months which has helped me upskill and be confident enough to address the concerns my clients may be going through. I believe in updating my knowledge constantly and make sure I'm up-to-date with the latest research and interventions that can benefit my clients. My sessions ensure maximum empathy and believe that everybody deserves the best care regardless of their sex, gender, ethnicity, orientation, or how they identify.

Frequently asked questions

How much does therapy cost in India?

Therapy costs in India vary widely by city, the counselor's qualifications, and the session format you choose. Private counseling generally ranges from a few hundred rupees to a few thousand rupees per session, and the online therapy price in India usually sits at the lower end of that range since there are no clinic overheads. If you expect to need ongoing support, counselors who offer bundles — such as 4, 6, or 12 sessions — often work out more affordable per session than paying one at a time.

Is online therapy expensive?

Usually not. Because counselors save on clinic space and you save on commuting, online sessions are often priced lower than in-office ones. Many counselors also keep both 30-minute and 60-minute options, so you can begin with a shorter, lower-cost session before committing to longer or bundled ones.

Is free online therapy in India a good option, or should I pay for sessions?

Free support in India — such as crisis helplines, NGO-run services, and student wellness cells — is genuinely valuable, especially when you need someone to talk to right away. The limitation is continuity, since free services usually cannot offer the same counselor week after week. For ongoing, structured work on grief, trauma, or anxiety, an affordable paid session with the same counseling psychologist each time tends to give better results.

How do I find affordable online therapy in India?

Start by comparing per-session rates on counseling platforms and independent counselor profiles, and shortlist professionals who publish their fees openly. Look for sliding-scale pricing, shorter 30-minute sessions for tighter budgets, and bundle offers that reduce the per-session cost. Also verify qualifications — a qualified counseling psychologist charging slightly more is usually a better investment than an uncertified "coach."

How do I choose the best online therapy in India?

The best online therapy in India is less about brand names and more about fit: check the counselor's qualifications, their specialization (grief, trauma, anxiety, relationships), the approaches they use, and whether their session format suits your schedule and budget. Reading online therapy reviews in India helps you see how past clients describe their actual experience. A single shorter session is often the easiest way to test the fit before committing to a package.

Can I get trauma counseling online, or do I have to search for trauma counseling near me?

You don't have to restrict yourself to counselors in your city. Online trauma counseling over video call is widely used, and many people actually find it easier to open up about difficult experiences from their own home. What matters most is that the counselor is trained in trauma work — so a qualified trauma specialist online is often a better choice than simply the nearest local option.

How can I find grief counseling near me?

Good starting points are a referral from your doctor, the psychology or psychiatry department of a nearby hospital, and verified counselor directories where you can filter for grief specialization. If local options near you have long waiting lists, most grief counselors also offer online sessions, which widens your choice considerably.

What is grief counseling like?

Grief counseling is usually gentler and more open-ended than people expect. You talk about the person you lost, the circumstances, and whatever feelings are coming up — sadness, anger, guilt, even numbness — while the counselor listens without rushing you toward "moving on." Sessions commonly run 30 to 60 minutes, you never need to prepare or bring anything, and you share only what feels safe to share.

What is the meaning of grief counseling?

The meaning of grief counseling is professional, structured support that helps a person process a loss — most often the death of a loved one, but also other losses like a relationship, a job, or one's health. It is not about "fixing" your grief or making you forget; it is about helping you carry the loss, understand your reactions, and slowly rebuild a life that still holds space for what you lost.

What is the difference between grief counseling and grief therapy?

Grief counseling generally supports someone moving through a normal, expected loss — helping them express feelings, adjust to life after the loss, and cope day to day. Grief therapy goes deeper and is used when grief becomes complicated or prolonged, for example when it severely disrupts daily functioning for an extended period. In practice the two overlap, and many counselors are trained in both.

What grief counseling techniques are used in a typical session?

Common grief counseling techniques include active listening and narrative work (telling the story of your loss in your own words), continuing-bonds exercises that allow a healthy connection to the person's memory, and CBT-based methods for feelings like guilt or "I should have done more." Counselors may also use grounding techniques for moments when grief arrives in overwhelming waves. The mix is always tailored to the individual.

What trauma counseling techniques are commonly used?

Trauma counseling techniques depend on what you are working through, but commonly include trauma-informed safety and pacing, CBT and DBT-based skills for managing flashbacks and emotional flooding, and psychodynamic or transactional-analysis work to understand how past experiences shape present patterns. A trained counselor moves at your pace and never forces you to relive events before you are ready.

What is a trauma counselor?

A trauma counselor is a mental health professional — usually a counseling psychologist with additional training in trauma work — who helps people process distressing experiences such as abuse, accidents, sudden loss, or violence. Along with a psychology degree, they typically hold trauma-specific certifications and use structured approaches so that healing happens safely rather than re-traumatising you.

What is trauma informed counseling?

Trauma informed counseling is an approach in which the counselor assumes a client may carry a history of trauma and therefore builds the entire process around safety, trust, choice, and collaboration. Instead of asking "what's wrong with you," the counselor asks "what happened to you," and takes care not to re-traumatize the client while exploring difficult memories. It is a standard worth looking for in any counselor dealing with trauma or grief.

How many therapy sessions do I need?

There is no fixed number — it depends on what you are working through. A single situational issue may shift within a few sessions, while grief, trauma, or long-standing anxiety patterns usually need more consistent work, which is why many counselors offer bundles of 4, 6, or 12 sessions. A good practice is to review progress with your counselor every few sessions; you should never feel locked into a package that is not helping.
