Sayak is a very friendly person who has a lot of knowledge about transformers and has extensive experience in open source. He provided me with guidance on how to secure positions at companies that contribute significantly to open source. He shared his journey and encouraged me to follow the right path. The first half of our conversation was a more generic discussion on how to enhance my skills, while the second half focused on my personal project. He offered several helpful pointers and discussed a few technical aspects with me. His assistance and insights were very valuable. Sayak is a knowledgeable individual, and I would love to connect with him in the future.
I am generally interested in the area of representation learning. More specifically, I am interested in the following areas: semi-supervision, self-supervision, and model robustness. I work on 🧨 diffusion models at Hugging Face.
I enjoy implementing research ideas, sometimes incorporating them into practical applications, and communicating my implementation details through articles. I advocate for highly readable and self-contained code. I primarily use Python for programming.
I have a flair for open-source initiatives. In particular, I have contributed to Keras, KerasCV, 🤗 Transformers, TensorFlow Addons, etc. Check out my GitHub profile (username: sayakpaul) for more details.
The Intel Software Innovator Program recognized me as one of their top innovators for my community contributions and innovative projects in 2019. For my open-source contributions, I received the Google Open Source Peer Bonus Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022, TensorFlow Top Contributor Award in 2021.
I have mentored at several places including Google Summer of Code, Google Code-In, and Google for Startups Accelerator.
