Despite the fancy title, I'm still coding every day - just building AI automations and integrations for marketing teams instead of traditional web features. My role is basically "make AI work for marketing people," which means writing custom scripts, building API integrations, and creating automation workflows. It's still very much a technical job, just with more business context and fewer database migrations. What I actually do: Build AI automations for marketing workflows Create custom integrations between marketing tools Write code that makes ChatGPT, analytics platforms, and CMSs talk to each other Debug why the automation that worked yesterday suddenly doesn't The interesting part is combining my backend development skills with all this AI stuff. Instead of just maintaining Drupal sites, I'm solving new problems that didn't exist a few years ago.
