With experience of being on both sides of the interview screen/table, I am keen to guide an interview preparation and tips session. My approach is tailored to empower and equip candidates with the knowledge and confidence they need to excel.

I have divided the entire Interview mentorship structure into 4 sessions. It is advised to go through all four sessions for the best results.

Here's how I plan to conduct these mentorship sessions:

1st Session:

  1. Understanding Individual Goals: I begin by understanding each mentee's career aspirations, strengths, and areas for improvement. This personalized approach helps me tailor the session to fit their unique needs.
  2. Resume/ Portfolio/Linkedin Profile Review: I scrutinize resumes/portfolio, offering constructive feedback on how to showcase skills and experiences compellingly. Emphasizing the importance of a well-structured resume that stands out.
  3. Crafting Your Story: I guide mentees in crafting their personal narratives, focusing on how to articulate their journey, achievements, and the value they bring to the table. This includes preparing them to answer frequent interview questions like "Tell me about yourself" effectively.

2nd Session:

  1. Behavioral Questions Strategy: I offer strategies for tackling behavioral questions, teaching the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure answers that highlight their problem-solving skills and achievements.
  2. Technical Prep: For roles requiring technical expertise, I provide insights into the types of technical questions to expect and how to approach them, including problem-solving methods and thinking aloud during the process.
  3. Portfolio Presentation: For careers that necessitate a portfolio, I offer advice on how to create a compelling portfolio that effectively showcases their work, as well as tips on presenting it confidently during the interview.

3rd Session:

  1. Question Formulation: I encourage mentees to formulate insightful questions for their interviewers, demonstrating their interest and engagement with the role and company.
  2. Follow-Up Etiquette: I stress the importance of post-interview etiquette, including the timely sending of thank-you emails and how to follow up without appearing pushy.
  3. Mindset and Confidence Building: Lastly, I focus on mindset and confidence-building strategies. I believe in the power of positivity, stress management techniques, and the importance of self-belief in achieving success.

4th Session:

Mock Interviews: Conducting mock interviews is a key part of my approach. This hands-on practice helps identify areas of improvement, from body language to answering techniques, making the real interview seem less daunting.

My ultimate goal is to ensure that every mentee leaves our sessions feeling fully prepared, confident, and equipped with the tools and knowledge they need to ace their interviews and take their next career step with confidence.
