Becoming a Teacher in NZ (Study Pathway)

If you're dreaming of teaching in New Zealand and want to study your way into it, this session gives you the lay of the land. I'll walk you through the study pathway into teaching in NZ, how the study system is in NZ, what are the main sectors of teaching, and what you need to know before you apply to a teaching program.

This call covers the STUDY pathway only. It's for people who plan to study a teaching qualification in New Zealand. I do NOT cover the overseas qualification assessment route, meaning if you're already a trained or registered teacher outside NZ wanting your existing qualification recognised, this call is not for you. That's a separate and complex process I don't advise on at the moment. So please book keeping this in mind.

- The three teaching streams (early childhood, primary, secondary) and how they differ
- ITE-approved study programmes, which universities offer them, and how you can find your right fit
- What you must have to apply for a Teaching programme (graduate and post-graduate levels)
- How NZ schools are structured, class sizes, and how teachers collaborate
- How Teaching Registration works (provisional to full)
- What to expect after you graduate, including job application process and the job landscape
- A realistic look at salaries and life as a teacher in NZ
