The Category Management Workbook: Advanced Data and Excel
This is the hands-on companion to The Category Management Playbook. If the Playbook taught you what a category manager decides, the Workbook shows you how those decisions actually get made, in Excel, from real working files.
Eighteen sessions, ten and a half hours, built the way the job is really done. Every session starts from a real working file, and builds live formulas you can trace from raw data to the final number. That is the skill the role needs and the one most courses skip.
The course runs the way a category is managed across a full cycle, in five blocks:
A. Diagnose. Read the category before you touch it: vertical health, the demand funnel, supply health and fulfilment.
B. Compete and Select. Measure against Meesho on price and Amazon on selection, then turn the gap into a ranked add list.
C. Ads. Read and optimise internal ad campaigns, build a seller-level target engine, and judge external spend across YouTube, Meta and Google.
D. Money. The category P&L in burn terms, an honest read of returns and selection, and the investment plan that funds growth.
E. Plan Forward. Joint business plans, event phasing and deals, forecasting to the demand planning number, seasonal and festive playbooks, catalogue insight, and the full marketplace summation.
Who it is for?
Category managers and aspiring category managers who know the concepts and want to build the numbers. Sharpest if you have done the Playbook first, but it stands on its own.
