The Book That Helps Your Child Get UnStuck
About me
Rashmi R Padhy spent over twenty years building products at some of the world’s fastest-moving technology companies, including Binance (WazirX), Uber (Careem), and Go-Jek. His work involved a habit that does not switch off at the end of the workday: when something does not work the way it should, find out why, from the ground up, and rebuild it from there.
A few years ago, he turned that habit toward a question much closer to home.
His son, Hrishi, was struggling with some subjects. Same teachers, same textbooks, same effort as his classmates, and yet something was not landing. The usual answers, try harder, pay more attention, get a tutor, did not explain what Rashmi was watching happen at the kitchen table every evening.
He refused to accept that there was no answer.
Rashmi spent the next couple of years doing what he had always done with hard problems: going to the source. He read dozens of research papers in cognitive science and neuroscience, going back sixty years and across three continents. He found a pattern that kept repeating across completely unrelated studies, on hippocampal place cells, on advance organisers, on maths anxiety, on worked examples, that no one had quite connected into a single, usable framework.
Then he did the part that mattered most. He tried it. With Hrishi. At the kitchen table. Adjusting the approach as he went, watching what worked and what did not, the way an engineer debugs a system rather than the way a parent hopes for the best.
It worked.
The Primed Brain is the result: a framework built from independently established science on one side, and from years of watching one child learn, struggle, and find his footing, on the other. It names three states every learning brain moves through, the unprimed brain, the primed brain, and the defended brain, and gives parents and teachers simple, low-cost tools to recognise each one and respond to it.
Rashmi lives by a simple principle, carried over from two decades of building products: if something is broken, the fix is rarely more effort applied in the same direction. It is usually a different starting point. The Primed Brain applies that principle to how children learn, and to the millions of kitchen tables where parents are quietly trying to help, often without the framework to know what they are looking at.

For Hrishi, who sat with the hard chapters and kept trying. And for every student who concluded the problem was them. It wasn’t.
