R2D2 is my favourite Star Wars character. I resonate with the behind-the-scenes work R2 does and how R2 is literally a Swiss knife robot—able to prioritize and handle multiple assignments. In my current role, as a career strategist at UBC, I often work on 3 future workshops, 3 immediate projects, and support a minimum of 5 different teams across a multitude of departments.  My work responsibilities include: 🔵 collaborate and oversee a 500-person mentorship program 🔵 manage 1 student employee 🔵 create digital career content (Career Carrots podcast) 🔵 conduct 5-10 career advising appointments weekly for students and alumni My work entails 👉🏼 synthesizing new information to repackage it for others to learn 👉🏼 coaching people to overcome barriers and take action 👉🏼 share strategies on how to communicate effectively at work 👉🏼 creating communities for people to be seen and heard This requires careful planning and organization. These are the skills in my toolbox—allowing me to be resourceful and adaptive Which is why I consider myself the R2D2 of learning Finding a way to support everyone towards a common cause.
