I really enjoy my tech career. I have had amazing opportunities to provide outsized value and have traveled all over the world to make it happen. It's not all been sunshine and roses though. By the third year of my career, I had burnt out and had begun to believe that most of what we did had no impact on the business. I was starting to wonder if I was even smart enough to understand how business actually works. My “ah ha” moment came when I accepted a position at my first startup. Three things crashed together for me: A superb company that focused on work that mattered, a boss who allowed me to take ownership of my space, and me starving to learn a better way. Today I help tech startups build out engineering organizations that do meaningful work their engineers can be proud of.
