Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is a 45-minute session to understand what brings you to therapy, the difficulties you are experiencing, and whether this way of working is suitable for you. It is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of the therapeutic process and decide whether you would like to continue.

About Me

I’m Rayhan Rana, a Counselling Psychologist with an MSc in Clinical Psychology. I practice depth therapy informed by psychoanalytic thinking.

Nature of the Work

This is generally longer-term work, with sessions taking place 1–3 times a week, depending on your needs and the nature of the work. The approach is relational and depth-oriented, drawing on psychoanalytic ideas to explore unconscious patterns, defences, ambivalence, inner conflicts, and recurring ways of relating.

The therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the work. Rather than concentrating only on immediate symptom relief or surface-level changes, therapy involves gradually understanding the underlying patterns that shape how you think, feel, and relate to others.

Important Note

This service is not intended for acute psychiatric crises or emergency situations, including situations where immediate intervention or emergency care is required. In such circumstances, please seek appropriate emergency or psychiatric services.

Rescheduling & Cancellation

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel a session. Sessions cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice may be considered a missed session and charged accordingly.
