I'm Saubhagya, an independent impact consultant based in New Delhi. I work with corporates, startups, NGOs on scaling their social impact, and research/write on jobs, climate, and technology.
My journey with making intuitive 'career' decisions started when I went against conventional wisdom to prepare for the IIT-JEE with ICSE and while applying for UG programs abroad. Despite offers to study CS at UCLA, UIUC etc and Economics at King's, UCL etc, I chose to study Economics at Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. Upon graduation, I joined McKinsey & Co, leaving my offer to pursue a MBA at IIM-Lucknow, but only to move on from the Firm after a year to work with a NGO in rural India.
These decisions, and most recently, completing a Master of Public Policy at the University of Oxford, have allowed me to deeply understand diverse career pathways across disciplines and make intuitive, yet strategic, decisions with little foresight. All it takes, I believe, is asking meaningful questions, reflecting deeply, and taking a few brave calls.
