A writer at heart and an academic by profession, with dual degrees in World Literature and Applied Linguistics, Q began her career as a creative professional, designing print and digital campaigns. She later ventured into scripting and directing play productions, writing storyboards for new media content, and editing newsletters and poetry anthologies. Through solo travel and field writing projects documenting the experiences of marginalized communities, Q discovered her passion for creative nonfiction. With 18 years of teaching experience, she mentors fellows in the Ravi Writing Projects, guiding them in mindful writing, exploring personal themes, and engaging with Pakistani poetics as BIPOC writers. Now fully dedicating herself to her passion for writing, Q’s work explores illness narratives, collective amnesia, shame, naming, and matrilineal histories. She is currently a creative writing fellow at Hollins University and a member of the creative writing media team.
