Preeti Singh is part of Azim Premji University, where she oversees operational aspects of student engagement and co-curricular initiatives. She teaches a hands-on Sustainable Farming course, where students learn sustainable practices by directly engaging in farming activities. Preeti also coordinates the Sustainable Farming Club and the university's Sustainability Committee, working to embed sustainable practices across the campus. With several years in research organizations and NGOs, Preeti brings expertise in research, advocacy, and youth engagement to her role. She worked as Assistant Program Coordinator with Restless Development in Ranchi, focusing on youth leadership and advocacy in sexual, reproductive, and health rights. She has led research on gender, welfare, and sustainable development in Jharkhand. During the COVID-19 lockdown, She volunteered with the Stranded Workers’ Action Network (SWAN), providing essential support to migrant workers via cash transfers and connections to welfare programs. She later coordinated SWAN’s fellowship program, training migrant workers in skills to enhance their employability and empowering them to become changemakers and leaders in their communities. Preeti holds an M.Phil. in Sociology and a Master’s in Anthropology from the University of Delhi, as well as a B.Sc. in Chemistry and Botany from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University. Her academic journey fuels her passion for studying the intricate relationships between humans and the environment. Inspired by her experiences growing up in a rural village in Uttar Pradesh, she has sought to understand development challenges and cultivate sustainable practices both personally and professionally. Preeti’s work has included initiatives such as studying the Dal Bhat Yojana, a community kitchen program, and its impact on women’s empowerment in Jharkhand. As a fellow of the Digital Identity Research Initiative (DIRI) at the Indian School of Business, she researched the impact of Aadhaar integration into the MGNREGA system on welfare delivery in Jharkhand. In Ranchi, She contributed to a community tree plantation drive as part of Team Green, collaborating with civil society and local government to ensure the sustainability of planted trees. Her research and teaching focus on sustainable development, environmental education, and indigenous knowledge systems, exploring pathways to foster harmony between human progress and nature. Currently, Preeti’s work aims to promote sustainable practices among urban youth and community groups through education and advocacy.
