CFOs. They are everything to everyone in the world of finance. When things get tough, the CFO gets the tactical emergency issue and the operational job. When things are going well, the CFO nails the performance, cost urgencies, and growth strategy. The CFO is the heartbeat and early-warning system for any organisation. My role is all about bringing together strategy, operations, and people to help organisations fill the gap between each year’s plans and reality. I focus on implementation: dusting off strategies, improving processes, increasing efficiencies and helping businesses adapt to and succeed in a more and more digital economy. I look at markets from an economic and social point of view to help my team members figure out how to improve execution and efficiency in alignment with Vision, Mission and Values. In addition, I have contact with all the organization's stakeholders, including key local people and key external people, in our mission to make the organisation a relevant and exciting place. Where I am the head of the finance function, structure and efficiency lower my workload, allowing me more time to focus on people. I take pride in what I do and where I have worked. But I am always looking to improve. OER decreased from 28% to 20% in Nigeria and from 33% to 26% in Ghana ► DSO was decreased from 147 to 58 days as a result of a process and procedure initiative ► Initiated a commission and variable compensation overhaul that reduced personnel expenses from an all-time high of 15% of revenue to less than 10% of revenue, which reduced it by 5% over 3 years despite revenue growth of 43% ► Built strong, successful companies with an analytical, data-driven strategy addressing a wide range of challenges and implementing ESG Reporting as per JSE requirements On the hunt for new information at all times.
