People usually ask me why I made the switch from science to design. It almost always comes up when meeting new people. And I always tell them that I found 'design' a little more interesting. The truth - the biggest boost that pushed me in this direction was that one project I did in Undergrad. It was when my team needed packaging labels for a new product launch during one of the cultural fests. It was a big thing and we had NAAC visiting. None of us knew much about design, and when it comes to taking on challenges like these, you can be sure that I will take it up. I sat down, opened PowerPoint and got working on the label. And oh, it was such a thrilling experience to see how a simple design, made on a software that was meant mostly for creating presentations, could receive such a good response from both my peers and members of the NAAC committee. Needless to say, the design was a huge success! It fit the bottles well. It was a design that ‘popped’. And I managed to surprise everyone with my PowerPoint skills (which I honestly did not know I had). But this was when I knew that I wanted to go deeper into the field of design. When in Postgrad I finally thought of taking the leap. Just to see how it would go. I had nothing to lose. Only a lot to learn and a tonne of experience to gain. The rest is all history. I am a full-time designer and brand manager. I have never been happier. I am glad that I am a person who loves challenges, and I am glad that I have the zeal to take them head-on.
