Do your profiles across platforms and job portals, and your CV, all tell one singular story about you, what you stand for and what you do well?
Or do they look like a list of responsibilities you carried out as a category manager, product manager, or marketing manager? And when it's time to apply for a new role, do you open the JD and start mirroring it, adding whatever fits, removing what doesn't?
If it's the second, let me tell you why it may be working against you.
The world tells you to cast a wider net, by making sure your CV fits the JD.
But here is what actually happens when you mirror JDs. You position yourself as a category manager, a product manager, a supply chain lead(which your role titles are anyways doing by the way) and so do thousands of others with similar titles and similar responsibilities. In doing so, you don't just mirror the JD, but you mirror every other candidate in the pile. And when a recruiter is looking through a hundred similar-looking CVs, there is nothing that makes them stop on yours.
What makes them stop is your story, the uniqueness that shows up consistently across every role you've held. Most of us don't know what that is and hence it doesn't show up on our CV, our profiles, or in the interview conversations we walk into.
Also, what nobody tells you is that finding the right job is not just a top-of-funnel problem, it's an across the funnel problem. And when you mirror the JD, you're solving for volume of inbound calls while the real problem goes unsolved.
Now here is the fear I often hear:
Won't having a specific story limit the roles I can apply to?
So let me reframe that, too.
When you know your story of what makes you uniquely valuable, you can look at any role and ask: how does my ability solve this problem?
The answer to that question is what makes you more confident and selectable.
And any role where you can't answer that question a shortlist or even recruitment wont help you because you wont be able to hold the conversation or the job even if you get it.
And here is what having an identified unique story actually does across your entire funnel.
I know this because I've used mine across supply chain, marketing, business, sales, B2B and B2C, all intentionally.
I have received inbound calls through my LinkedIn profile, through my CV on job portals, and I have walked into interviews for one role and walked out with the option of two because the conversation brought out something that made me suitable for another role too.
That is what this session is for: to help you find and own that unique story of yours.
In 60 minutes, we sit with your work experience and find three things: the story you have in your head about yourself, the story your work is actually telling, and how to bring them together into one clear, sellable narrative, one that works across your CV, your profiles, and every interview room you walk into.
This is for you if:
You will walk away with:
This is a thinking session, not an editing session. You bring your career. We find the story in it together.
