What this is
Some weeks the problem isn't your skills. It's the org, the politics, the manager who doesn't get design, the project quietly falling apart, or the voice in your head asking if you're even good at this.
This is 45 minutes to say all of it out loud to someone who has been there. I've been the only designer in the room, built a design function from nothing, and survived big tech and agency chaos. I've had plenty of my own "am I the problem here" moments too.
No slides. No prep. No smart question required. Just come rant.
How the 45 minutes go
First 5 minutes: we settle in and I ask you one thing. Do you want me to just listen, or listen and then help you figure out your next move? Both are completely fine. You steer.
Next 25 minutes: you rant, I listen. This is the main event. I mostly stay quiet and only jump in if you get stuck.
Around the halfway mark I'll do a quick check: keep venting, or start unpacking? Your call.
Next 8 minutes or so: I reflect back what I actually heard. The patterns, the thing under the thing, what's yours to control and what isn't.
Last few minutes: if you asked for it, one or two concrete things to try this week. If you just wanted to be heard, we skip this and keep talking.
One thing to know
This is a space to vent about work and your career. It is not therapy or personal crisis support, and I'm not the right person for that. If that's what you need, please reach out to a professional who can actually help.
You'll leave lighter. And if you want, with something to try next.
