Parneet Kaur works at the intersection of sustainability, gender equality and indigenous peoples rights. She served as Senior Associate, Delegate Affairs in G20-Y20 India. As part of Y20 India Secretariat, she advocated for the inclusion and acknowledgment of indigenous communities in the official Y20 communique, thus acting out her commitment enshrined in the UNCTAD youth declaration 2021, which she co-authored as the Indian youth representative and lead of Climate Change working group. She is one of the 100 leaders selected by Oxford University and St. Gallen Symposium. She is a Global Shaper as part of Global Shaper Community, WEF. She has been featured by Sustainability for Students, the Indian Express which has a readership of more than 1.6 million and several local news outlets. Her willingness to leverage creative expression as a powerful vehicle of change has culminated in the establishment of an international youth-led creative enterprise called Poetry for Planet, which aims to celebrate the unsung climate champions from across the world by documenting their unique struggles in creative formats such as poetry and prose. She wants to initiate critical discourse about the mental well-being of climate champions, promote literature, wisdom and sustainable practices of indigenous people and generate climate change awareness through her initiative. She is also the Founder of GirlUp Zubaan, a local initiative with global outreach that aims to reform feminism and empower marginalised women through an empathetic and sustainable approach. She is currently serving as the Assistant Secretary of the Youth Wing of Chandigarh United Nations Association.She has served as the Advisor to JED Child Trust Foundation, Nigeria, an NGO that is working on SDG 4 : Quality Education, thus enhancing access to quality education to African students. She was selected as the Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador by GYCN (Global Youth Climate Network), a volunteer initiative by World Bank professionals. Her active involvement with the Indigenous Solidarity Working Group, YOUNGO has chiefly enabled her to learn directly from the indigenous leaders and work for the empowerment of tribal and marginalised women who are one of the least responsible yet most vulnerable to climate change.
