About me
Hi, I’m Nishkarsh, a student from the Industrial Design department at NIT Rourkela, and I’m more into UX design and psychology. My college life revolves around 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. Most of my friends are (+1) seniors, and I usually hang out with the coolest builder group on campus.
Here’s a quick look at my college journey so far:
𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 (𝐀𝐮𝐠 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑 – 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒) | 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙮 𝘿𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣
• Joined 𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗦 (𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲) aiming to become a data scientist (dropped in 2nd year).
• Tried launching an 𝗘𝗱𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽 and pitched to 𝗜𝗜𝗧 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘀 𝗙𝗧𝗕𝗜 but failed.
• Got 𝗖𝗚𝗣𝗔 𝟳.𝟬𝟯.
𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 (𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 – 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓) | 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒌𝒂 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕
• 𝗖𝗼-𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲, food delivery startup for NIT Rourkela (since Zomato/Swiggy weren’t allowed), introduced room delivery, validated via WhatsApp Model, and 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 ₹𝟭–𝟮𝗟/𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 for 4 months.
• Discovered UI/UX for QuickServe and started designing product myself.
• Joined GDG NITR as a designer & organized HackInnovision hackathon.
• Member of 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗨𝗫𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗦; won multiple hackathons (Ethos – IIT Guwahati, Pan IIT, IIT Bombay).
Designed:
– 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁 (a chat app with cross-platform bridging (WhatsApp, Telegram, Snapchat)
– 𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗶𝘁 (an anonymous enterprise communication platform)
• 𝗨𝗜/𝗨𝗫 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗾𝗼 (ABDM-compliant hospital queue system) & 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘀 (designed JailMail, an Italian communication through prison platform).
• 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 & 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗺; designed MVP for a lung health monitoring system connected to the NeumoRex smart stethoscope.
• Got 𝗖𝗚𝗣𝗔 𝟳.𝟯𝟭 while balancing everything.
𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 (𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 – 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔) | 𝑶𝒘𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑬𝒓𝒂
• Selected for 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻, open-source design, & worked with 𝗕𝗶𝘁𝗵𝘆𝘃𝗲𝗲 on designing the Bitcoin Keeper desktop wallet.
• Started 𝗗𝘂𝗯𝗻𝗶𝘅.𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 for freelancing
• Joined 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗼.𝗮𝗶 as a UX Design Intern.
• QuickServe secured funding at a ₹𝟰𝟬 𝗹𝗮𝗸𝗵 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, giving 5% equity to an angel investor.
• Focusing on learning how to build MVPs and validate ideas by myself only.
