In July 2019, on my birthday, I decided to give in and chase my dream of doing an MBA from a top-tier IIM. Problem solving and marketing were concepts I had always found myself drawn to (even during law school) and I felt like the timing was just right. And more than I'd like to admit, heading to a tier-1 institution was my shot at redemption as well (read private college problems). I focused on preparing for the CAT exam and even took a year off to dedicate my time to the one hurdle I thought could stop me. Somehow, I scored 99.76 percentile and got a call from every IIM. I even got into the B-school of my dreams. Little did I know that the real roadblocks lay ahead. See my biggest challenge was never the entrance exam - it was the interview. I wouldn't know what to talk about, or how to pitch myself. This challenge persisted through second year of B-school until I went through a long drawn and intense interview prep process to understand what made people tick.
