About this session

About this session

Are you working on a medical research manuscript and unsure how to prepare it for journal submission?

I offer one-to-one mentorship to medical students, postgraduate residents, clinicians and early-career researchers who want to improve the structure, clarity, reporting and publication readiness of their research manuscripts.

As an MD Pharmacology-trained physician with experience in clinical research, oncology research and scientific publications, I can help you understand the manuscript preparation and journal submission process.

What we can discuss

1. Manuscript structure and scientific writing

  • Organising your manuscript using the Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion (IMRaD) structure.
  • Improving clarity, logical flow and scientific presentation.
  • Identifying repetition, inconsistencies and gaps in the argument.
  • Presenting results accurately without overstating findings.

2. Reporting guidelines and research presentation

  • Understanding relevant reporting guidelines, such as CONSORT for randomised trials and STROBE for observational studies.
  • Improving the presentation of methods, results, tables and figures.
  • Identifying common reporting problems before submission.

3. Journal selection and submission preparation

  • Identifying journals relevant to your research topic and study design.
  • Understanding journal scope, manuscript requirements and submission guidelines.
  • Preparing a submission checklist and planning the cover letter.
  • Understanding common reasons for editorial rejection.

4. Publication process and reviewer comments

  • Understanding editorial decisions and peer review.
  • Planning responses to reviewer comments.
  • Identifying revisions needed to improve clarity, reporting and scientific presentation.

Who should book this session?

  • MBBS students and postgraduate residents preparing research manuscripts.
  • MD/MS and other postgraduate researchers working on dissertations or research papers.
  • Clinicians and early-career researchers preparing manuscripts for submission.
  • Researchers seeking guidance on journal selection, manuscript structure or the peer-review process.

What you should bring

Please share your research topic, study design, current manuscript stage and specific questions before the session. If available, keep your draft manuscript and intended target journal ready.

What you will gain

You will leave with a clearer understanding of the issues to address, practical recommendations for improving your manuscript and prioritised next steps towards submission.

Please note: This is a mentorship and consultation session, not a guarantee of publication or journal acceptance. Complete manuscript writing, extensive editing, statistical reanalysis and multiple rounds of revision are not included in the session fee and would require separate discussion. Research data, results and authorship must remain accurate and ethically represented.
