During the pandemic, when I was working in a clinic, we had to shut it down as one of our staff was affected by the virus, and our phones were buzzing with patients' calls about their scheduled appointments. This made me feel helpless as we were quarantined &could not recall individual treatment plans due to a considerable patient flow. As a dentist, I have the burden of looking into the old patient records about treatment done & treatment plans for the next appointment, which has become a daunting task. I have even seen patients who had no idea about the treatment they had undergone. It was during that peak time that I realized the importance of digitizing patient records, & an idea struck me by which the patient flow could be managed online by filling the consent form along with their details and automating appointments through which we can also keep them updated regarding their treatment while adhering to the Covid protocols. I decided to explore the software world further and began my professional stint as a Dentist at Snazzy, where I was entrusted with teleconsultation and handling dental-specific queries about aligners and records management through CRM Software while reaching sales targets. Later I joined IKS Health as a clinical specialist. In this role, I used to listen and comprehend recorded patient-physician interactions, develop an impression about the clinical condition, and document clinical history, examination findings & plan of action. Creating highly structured clinical notes, summarizing findings & insights with sections such as the HPI, ROS, PE, Assessment & treatment plan. I used to populate the summarized data in the EHR and maintain clinical note quality using documentation norms. This was when I learned how to apply computational methods to address and understand healthcare-related problems through Health Informatics. The sheer volume of patient records generated every second caught my attention, as did the prospect of using this data to make better decisions and make the world a better place. Thus, I wanted to pursue this course and achieve additional and updated skills in the EHR system, which saves time, and energy lessens human errors, and provides every healthcare professional with a quick review of the records. Later joined Microsoft Nuance as a Quality specialist in a similar role. Later, I joined as a clinical dental annotator in Videa Health, an AI-based start-up helping detect the progress of dental caries with just radiographs. I have also worked in P360 as an Analyst, in which my interest developed in data analytics.
