About me

Hi, I'm Mouna! I'm a postgraduate student of Sociology at D-school, driven by an enduring commitment to social change, inclusive communication, and people-powered strategies. With a foundation in feminist thought, intersectionality, and community engagement, I’ve consistently worked across domains of research, grassroots initiatives, and policymaking to bridge ideas with impact. An alumna of the University of Calcutta with a BA in Sociology and minors in Women’s Studies and Political Science, I bring critical thinking, empathy, and action-oriented leadership to every sphere I inhabit. My changemaking journey spans multiple sectors: I’ve worked with NITI Aayog on issues of social justice, advised on human relations strategy with AAP Punjab through IPAC, and engaged deeply with nonprofits and citizen platforms. I also served briefly as the President of the Social Impact Council at WICCI, West Bengal, and was a fellow with ‘She Creates Change’, India’s largest feminist movement-building platform. Internationally, I’ve been recognized as a JWS Fellow at Bridgewater State University and am a member of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. I currently hold admission offers from prestigious global institutions such as SOAS London, UBC, UNSW, and the Universities of Sydney and Melbourne. I have also cracked CUET PG and helped 50+ aspirants tailor their preparation. I specialize in using strategic communication lenses to design thoughtful and empathetic approaches in branding, public speaking, storytelling, and policy research. My research focuses on gender-based violence, caste and power, reproductive rights, and mental health. During the second wave of COVID-19 in India, I led a digital grassroots relief initiative, mobilizing aid and resources for affected communities. I’ve also contributed to grant evaluations and impact measurement strategies for NGOs and community organizations. Beyond advocacy and research, I’ve had extensive exposure to digital marketing, sales growth, customer engagement, and service-oriented roles where experiences have made me especially attuned to human behavior in market settings and the value of relationship-driven outcomes. I regularly write for platforms such as Youth Ki Awaaz, The Quint, and Medium, using storytelling to amplify voices and challenge norms. On Topmate, I offer sessions in the following areas: 🔹 Academic Mentorship – Dissertation support, university applications, research guidance 🔹 SOP & Admissions Help – Targeted advice for Indian and international programs 🔹 Feminist & Policy Mentoring – Gender, SRHR, mental health 🔹 Communication Strategy – Personal branding, storytelling, public speaking 🔹 NGO & Development Careers – Impact evaluation, grant writing, field strategy 🔹 Career Coaching – Especially for social science students and first-gen professionals/learners 🔹 Mental Wellness Support – Building rest into ambition A bit more about me: When I’m not working, I’m probably at a basketball court, lost in a book, watching classic cinema, attending a play, or exploring the intersections of history and contemporary culture. I’m always up for deep conversations, interdisciplinary ideas, and purpose-driven collaborations. You can use this space to book a call with her for 1:1 session on how to deal with studies and manage internships while being in high-school and at college , figure out career options post high school, tips on acing university interviews, conducting digital campaigns, how to get better at public speaking, career or personal mentorship sessions or even if you need a safe space to talk.
