With over 40 years of experience in infection prevention, Maureen Spencer is a board-certified and nationally recognized consultant, speaker, and educator in this field. She provides clients with onsite assessment of their infection prevention programs and delivers lectures at conferences and hospitals for staff and physicians. Her mission is to advance the practice and profession of infection prevention and control, especially in the area of surgical site infections and surgical stewardship. She has developed a framework called the "7 S Bundle" to help hospitals reduce the incidence and impact of surgical infections. She has also published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and presented numerous scientific abstracts and posters on infection prevention topics. Her infection prevention specialty is in the prevention of surgical site infections and is a frequent speaker at AORN and APIC national conferences.
