As leaders, we have to put out the message that we embrace, and not just tolerate, diversity. ~ Nellie Borrero As an HR Advisor (PE-03) with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, I am responsible for creating innovative recruitment strategies, staffing and helping our organization increase our representation from the employment equity(EE) (visible minorities, persons with disabilities and Indigenous Peoples) Prior to joining the Public Service/Government of Canada, I served as the Manager of Employer Engagement at World Skills Employment Centre, a non-profit employment center in Ottawa dedicated to the employment needs of newcomers and the local labor market. In this role, I successfully coordinated and supported the employer engagement team, developed a unified approach for employer engagement deliverables, planned and implemented employer engagement events, and strategized and collaborated with employers to connect with internationally trained professionals in the Ottawa region. I also contributed to improving the marketing and social media presence of the organization.
