Three years ago, I started City Girls Delhi with no background in community building and definitely no idea that it would one day become my full-time work.
I simply started because I wanted to create something I wished existed myself.
What made the journey even more interesting was that we were building for a niche audience - women. A lot of advice online tells you to go broad. We did the opposite. By focusing on creating a space where women felt comfortable showing up, connecting, and returning.
Today, City Girls Delhi is a community of 50,000+ women. We've hosted 240+ events with an average participation of 40–50 women per event, partnered with brands including Skechers, Gatorade, Aurelia, Sunscoop, DLF Promenade, Worldmark, Hudle, Amazon, W for Woman, and MakeMyTrip, and have been featured by publications such as The Hindu, The Indian Express, Times of India, Hindustan Times, Outlook Traveller, Curly Tales, Red FM, Radio One, among many others.
Everything I've learned has come from doing—through events where seven people showed up and events where more than 200 women did. Through events that sold out, partnerships that worked, and ideas that didn't. Through trying things, getting them wrong, learning from them, and trying again.
This session is for anyone who wants to build a community, whether you're still figuring out your idea or already have something in motion.
We can talk about:
• How to identify the right problem statement
• Finding your first members
• Choosing the right platforms and channels
• Planning events people actually want to attend
• Building engagement and retention
• Monetisation through events, partnerships, or memberships
• Brand collaborations and sponsorships
• Growing visibility and credibility
• Turning a side project into something sustainable
More importantly, we'll work together to create a roadmap tailored to your goals. By the end of the session, my aim is for you to walk away with greater clarity on what to focus on, what to deprioritise, and what the next 3–6 months could realistically look like for your community.
