About me

Manisha is a public health professional with several years of experience working in rural and tribal communities in India. Her expertise lies in health governance and stakeholder partnerships, strategy and design-thinking, program management and qualitative research. In her stint at Aajeevika Burea and Basic Healthcare Services, she had designed and executed surveillance in high burden TB pockets and during malaria outbreaks, involving frontline workers, NHM blocks and community representatives. She supervised the functioning and management of primary healthcare clinics managed by nurse practitioners in rural, tribal areas; designed SOPs for standards of quality care and NABH accreditation of rural primary healthcare clinics; designed successful strategies around TB and nutrition as well as TB-soft loan support in remote, tribal areas; peer-support groups in maternity and among TB patients Through her professional stint, she has published and represented in several national and international platforms She has anchored the Primary Healthcare Initiative, a joint partnership of the Indian Institute of Management Udaipur and Basic Healthcare Services that aims at generating evidence and knowledge on primary healthcare. She embarked her journey at Piramal Swasthya as the Manager -Governance and Policy for Niti-Ayog's SATH initiative and later as the State Program Officer - Community Process for a USAID-funded MNCH project in the state of Assam through technical support to NHM across districts with primary focus on the tea garden communities of Assam. She has led a USAID funded Jhpiego-NISHTHA project on Family Planning, as part of Vihara Innovation Network in the state of Meghalaya. In addition to her work experience, Manisha has steered several leadership positions. She was the founding member and first female Curator (2021-'22), Global Shaper at Guwahati Hub, Global Shapers Community (Initiative of the World Economic Forum) and Project Champion for the Women's Health Initiative at the World Economic Forum in 2022. She was also a Climate Reality Leader and Mentor for The Climate Reality Project from August 2020 to 2022. Manisha served as the Secretary for Red Ribbon Club, voluntary youth wing of Assam State AIDS Control Society, Students Welfare Board, IIT Guwahati (2015-‘16), Core team lead for Youth Alliance, New Delhi (May 2015). She has been the recipient of the SM Luthra Award for leadership at Lady Shri Ram College For Women and the Best Secretary Award in Students Welfare Body at IIT Guwahati.
