About me

Maithili is studying to specialize in the research areas of Human-Centered Computing (HCC) and specifically virtual humans (VH). Her research goal is to evaluate the factors that make virtual humans 'truly convincing'. To achieve this goal, I study users’ current VH-interaction practices and use this information to design, implement, and evaluate technologies that help users manage various aspects of the interaction experience such as virtual humans' appearance, personality, age, gender, ethnicity, emotions, gestures, smile, gaze, and proxemics. Her other research interests include usable privacy and security, data visualization, queueing and simulations, and virtual humans modeling. Paper on "Evaluating the Cost of Prevention Programming and Universal Screening with Discrete Event Simulation" is about an applied 'tandem queuing network' that involves overcoming the challenges of keeping the workings of each internal phase intact and synergizing the parts to make a meaningful whole—delivering beautiful deterministic & stochastic synergy. She is interested in the development, critique, evaluation, and characterization of UX and visualization systems. For UX systems, her goal is to help people measure and define their products from the user's perspective. She grounds UX research with strategy and design to analyze emerging technologies. Her research strategy includes qualitative, quantitative, attitudinal, behavioral & design research. She often chooses mathematical rigor and programming as predominant choices of methodology for tackling human-centered computing problems. She enjoys interdisciplinary avenues of work that are a melting pot of computational methods and design science. She undertakes technique-driven targeted work on multi-disciplinary HCI systems to study, design, and facilitate user interaction. Her work of experimentation on hyper-realistic MetaHumans provides another dimension to users’ perspective analysis. She likes to design and build interaction systems that promote fluid interaction and empowers users with intuitive and natural, and advanced interactive solutions. She works with products of which the locus of interaction ranges from gadgets to the space around us. In her spare time, she enjoys out-of-the-box aestheticism on anything remotely Interior Design.
