Following high school, I entered the healthcare industry and into nonprofit management. Through this experience, I realized that the well-intentioned system led to poor results in addressing social issues. In my search for a creative solution, I enrolled in the highly reputable Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. There I earned two associate degrees, one in Liberal Arts education and a Sociology transfer degree. I was recognized for my outstanding commitment to education and service when the Rotary International Foundation awarded me with their 2021 Foundation Scholarship. In addition, I am part of the fourth cohort of transfer students following the reinstatement of the transfer program at Princeton in 2018. As the first person in my family to attend a four-year university and the first spouse of a veteran transfer to attend Princeton, I now call the Princeton Sociology department my home. As a recent transfer to Princeton's campus, I've demonstrated my leadership skills through my role as Co-President at Rem on Campus, an organization that offers probono consulting services to minority-owned businesses and nonprofits that have been affected by Covid-19. This past January, I concentrated my efforts with Lambent Data performing impactful UX/UI experience, communications operations, and product management roles. My involvement will make significant contributions to underrepresented communities, hospitals, and organizations that will utilize Lambent’s OurREACH platform in the future. After exposure to the tech sector, I became fascinated, and in response to this experience, I am actively pursuing a minor in Technology and Society. My tech ambitions became a reality when I was accepted for Princeton Internships in Civic Service and given the opportunity to join TechSoup Global, a not-for-profit organization that provides technology solutions to other nonprofits. My role as a Product Development Research Analyst included introducing a new tech solution to the market in international countries. This experience helped me sharpen my qualitative and quantitative research skills. Throughout my time at Princeton, it is my goal to develop many of these marketable skills and networks to lead large-scale social change, engage my inner helper, and transition to a career serving society's most vulnerable.
